Enhanced 911
The enhanced 9-1-1 system is driven by a statewide database that automatically identifies the street address, resident’s name, phone number and Electronic Serial Number (ESN) which identifies the location of an individual placing a call for emergency assistance. The ANI / ALI is a computer-derived Automatic Number Identification (ANI) which is the phone number the call originated from and Automatic Location Identification (ALI) which is the address where the call originated from, based on the system’s Master Street Address Guide (MSAG). This information determines the location of the caller so, if the caller is unable to complete the call or is unable to speak; emergency units can still be dispatched. The ESN identifies the caller’s location in terms of public safety agency jurisdiction or service area. This information determines the responding agency.

Wireless 9-1-1

Wireless 9-1-1 calls are automatically plotted onto the mapping system, allowing dispatchers to easily identify caller location. Repeat queries will automatically re-plot the location of a moving cellular caller at regular intervals. The integration between the 9-1-1 phone system and the mapping system enables public safety personnel to locate callers more rapidly than before.
