Public Defender Information

Blaine County contracts with several local defense attorneys to serve as public defenders. They rotate on a set monthly schedule. If you want to apply for a public defender, please fill out the public defender application and file it with our office. You may still need to appear at your first appearance/arraignment hearing before you are appointed an attorney. Unless notified otherwise, public defenders are not available to consult with before your first appearance. The judge considers your income, assets and liabilities when reviewing your application, so please make sure all sections are completely filled out.
