Being a Deputy in the Blaine County Detention Facility is a highly skilled profession. They are responsible for protecting the security and safety of officers, visitors, and inmates. Detention Deputies attend the Idaho Peace Officer Standards and Training Academy for 5 weeks, complete an extensive in-house JTO program and receive annual specialized training.

Detention Deputies generally work four 10-hour shifts per week. The schedule rotation includes days, nights, weekends, graveyard and holidays.
